Circuit at Your Leisure by car (own or rental), where, over the course of 7 days (6 nights), we offer an itinerary featuring the most selected experiences from both the Rías Altas and the Rías Baixas, all in just 7 days (6 nights).
Starting in A Coruña and finishing in Pontevedra, you’ll delight in cliffs, lighthouses, capes, stunning Atlantic surroundings, crystal-clear beaches, and iconic cities. Nature, culture, and gastronomy combined in one week to make the most of your trip.
- Day 1. Departure – A Coruña
On the first day, depending on the chosen transport (own vehicle or rental car), we will head to the accommodation in A Coruña. The city has an airport, port, train station, and direct highways, so if you choose to travel on your own with your own car, you will have no trouble arriving and checking into the reserved accommodation. Conversely, if you choose the car rental option, you will pick up the car at the designated location (airport or train station) and then head to the accommodation.
Depending on the arrival time, you may rest or stroll through A Coruña to get a first impression of the city.
- Day 2. Full-Day Excursion to Costa da Morte
On the second day of our tour, we will have breakfast at the hotel and, once ready, begin our journey through the famous Costa da Morte. We will drive along the coastline, passing through villages, cliffs, and capes where even the most skilled navigators of every era faced difficulties avoiding shipwrecks.
Our first stop will be Malpica de Bergantiños, a coastal village where you can enjoy its port and beaches, but primarily we stop here for the Miradoiro de Santo Adrián, with its views towards the Sisargas Islands, and to visit the faro de Punta Nariga. We will then continue to Camariñas. We will stroll through the village and approach the Cabo Vilán Lighthouse. This lighthouse is quite interesting due to its surroundings; the landscapes are as beautiful as they are cruel, having witnessed several shipwrecks, including the sinking of the Serpent.
Our next stop is the village of Muxía. Here, we will walk leisurely and visit the Muxía Lighthouse and the Santuario da Virxe da Barca.
Heading further south towards Finisterre, it is recommended to stop at the Finisterre viewpoint to enjoy an incredible view of the village. Once we reach Fisterra, we will go to its lighthouse, where we can contemplate the ancient "Finis Terrae", meaning the end of the world. We can admire the place where it was once believed the sun extinguished itself in its waters. It is a place of legends and fantasy.
Finally, we will head towards the wonderful Ézaro Waterfall, a place where you can enjoy tranquility along its wooden paths and admire its splendor from the viewpoints. It is a location where kayaks are often rented to approach the waterfall.
After this long day, we will return to our accommodation in A Coruña for a well-deserved rest.
- Day 3. Guided Tour of A Coruña or MEGA Guided Tour
Our last day in A Coruña will be fully dedicated to exploring the city. After breakfast, there are two options depending on availability at the time.
The first option is to immerse ourselves in its streets, enjoying a tour with an official guide to see the city's most emblematic places.
We will walk through the Plaza de María Pita with its iconic City Hall Building and stroll around the old town, where we will find charming spots like the Romantic Garden of San Carlos, the Castle of San Antón, the Santa María del Campo Collegiate Church, or the Plaza de las Bárbaras. We recommend visiting the Tower of Hercules, with its magnificent Roman lighthouse and its surroundings by the Atlantic Ocean. We will wander through its sculpture park and enjoy the views. If time permits, we will take one last walk along its maritime port and markets and taste its excellent Atlantic coast cuisine.
The second option is to visit the Estrella Galicia Museum or MEGA.
Although Galicia has been famous for its wines since time immemorial, we cannot overlook its renowned beer. For this reason, any beer lover visiting the city cannot miss the home of Estrella Galicia.
Even if beer is not your favorite drink, you will undoubtedly enjoy the experience. Over 2,500 square meters, you will learn about the production process, take a journey through their best advertising campaigns, learn about the history of beer and the various beer styles in the world, and discover how it is brewed by smelling and touching the raw materials. In summary, you will have a sensory experience thanks to the many interactive and augmented reality spaces, making everything as dynamic as possible.
MEGA is the only beer museum in Europe integrated into an active brewery, allowing us to witness real-time production.
We will rest at the designated accommodation in A Coruña and gather strength for the fourth day.
- Day 4. A Coruña - Full-Day Excursion to Rías Baixas - Pontevedra
We will have breakfast at the hotel in A Coruña, which we will leave after checking out. We will travel through some of the most representative areas of the Rías Baixas to end in Pontevedra, where we will stay.
First, we will head towards the Ría de Arousa, the largest estuary in Galicia. Beautiful in winter and in full bloom in summer, this is one of those areas of the region that you find yourself returning to due to its landscapes, surroundings, people, and gastronomy. Once in the area, we will stop in Cambados, with its excellent Historic-Artistic Complex, as well as the Illa de Arousa, with its spectacular beaches.
We will leave the Illa de Arousa towards O Grove and its port located on Beiramar Avenue. This is a good place for lunch, as this municipality has many seafood restaurants. We recommend anyone who loves seafood to not hesitate to try it.
We will cross a 19th-century bridge leading to La Illa da Toxa (Isla de la Toja). Located in an area classified as Red Natura 2000, it is famous for its soap production and thermal waters. It features a small museum of the old factory and the chapel, whose exterior is completely covered with scallop shells.
From this point, we will head to Playa de la Lanzada, which faces the open sea and stretches for 2,500 meters. It is considered one of the most iconic Galician beaches and one of the best for its sand and water quality. It is surrounded by a vast dune area that separates it from the road running along the coast. Among these dunes, a pleasant wooden walkway runs parallel to the beach for almost its entire length. From Playa de la Lanzada, the Ermita de la Lanzada is very close, a great spot to relax and enjoy a beautiful sunset.
After completing our excursion, we will arrive in Pontevedra, where we will check in and end our day at the selected hotel.
- Day 5. Visit to Poio Monastery - Guided Tour of Pontevedra
After having breakfast at our accommodation, we will prepare for another day in Pontevedra.
We will start with a visit to the Poio Monastery, located just a few kilometers away. The San Xoán de Poio Convent was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1970, and there are documents dating back to 942 confirming its existence.
In fact, it consists of two monasteries: the old Benedictine convent, with its church, two cloisters—Cruceiro and Procesiones—and other facilities, and the modern Mercedarian monastery, also with two parallel courtyards and a spacious chapel that stands out from the building.
In its orchard is the largest hórreo (granary) in Galicia, measuring 121 meters in length. Its unique architectural morphology is built on three rows of supports. It is one of the finest examples of local architecture, both for its age and excellent preservation and for its artistic value.
After the experience, we will head to Pontevedra to explore the city on a guided tour.
The city's name comes from Latin, meaning "old bridge," and it is one of the most important points on the Portuguese Way of Saint James. We will walk through its old town, filled with numerous chapels, squares, convents, ruins, and interesting museums. It is a city that invites you to stroll leisurely and enjoy its landscapes and ambiance.
We will discover the Pazo de Mugartegui, a baroque building made from locally crafted stone. The large noble coat of arms on its facade is noteworthy. It is also possible to visit an abandoned Pazo (manor) with incredible gardens like the Pazo de Lourizán, an impressive Romantic French-style Pazo.
So far, archaeological remains have not shown any occupation of the area until the arrival of the Roman Empire. Its foundation is estimated to have occurred during the conquest of "Gallaecia" (Galicia). A pillar at the southern head of the Puente del Burgo confirms this, as it was dedicated to Emperor Hadrian in 137.
We will enjoy a monumental experience, its wonderful old town, and its gastronomy.
Later, we will return to our hotel in Pontevedra to enjoy a well-deserved rest.
- Day 6. Visit to the Cíes Islands
We will have breakfast at our accommodation in Pontevedra, then check out and head to Vigo.
We will arrive at the maritime port at the time selected in your reservation to take a ferry to the Cíes Islands, part of the Atlantic Islands National Park. This is a unique ecosystem with exceptional flora and some beaches, such as Rodas Beach, which have been declared among the best in the world for their paradisiacal characteristics. It is also possible to have lunch here, as there are two restaurants, but it is recommended to book in advance before arrival.
Once back in Vigo, we will check in at our accommodation, and depending on our remaining energy, we may still explore its streets at a relaxed pace before resting.
- Day 7: Breakfast and End of Services
On the following day, in the morning, we will have breakfast and check out from the accommodation. If we have opted for a rental vehicle, we will return it to the designated location (train station or airport).
We wish you a pleasant return journey and hope these days in Galicia have left unforgettable memories.
