Discover Lugo: History and Roman Charm
Lugo, or more specifically, the ancient Roman town of Lucus Augusti, was founded around 25 BC and is the oldest city in Galicia. It is globally renowned for its Roman wall, the only one from the Roman Empire to remain fully intact along its nearly two and a half kilometres. In 2000, it was declared a World Heritage Site.
However, the city of Lugo offers much more. Among its Roman treasures are the Roman baths and an impressive Roman bridge.
In addition, Lugo is home to monuments and historical sites from later periods, such as the Cathedral of Santa María and the iconic Plaza Mayor.
The city exudes history from every corner, but it is also young and dynamic, with a gastronomy that captivates even the most demanding palates.
While we can’t always enjoy long holidays, this getaway is perfect for disconnecting for a couple of days and immersing yourself in the culture and gastronomy of a city that is becoming less of a hidden gem every day.
- Day 1. Arrival at the accommodation
Upon arrival at the selected establishment in Lugo, we will proceed with Check-In and prepare to enjoy a few days of relaxation.
This first day will be dedicated to rest and acclimatisation. Depending on your arrival time, this day will serve as free time to settle in, unpack, and relax in the city. You will have the opportunity to take a leisurely stroll and explore iconic sites such as the Roman walls, the Domus do Mitreo Museum, and other points of interest. After this free afternoon, we will rest at the hotel to recharge for the next day, which will be more active.
- Day 2. Guided tour in Lugo, gastronomic tasting, and free afternoon
After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we will head out for a guided tour of Lugo.
During this tour, you will discover the modern city shaped by its 2,000 years of history, uncovering hidden treasures in the historic centre while enjoying a comprehensive walk through its most iconic streets.
After the tour, we will enjoy a tasting menu highlighting the rich gastronomy of Lugo. Like the rest of Galicia, the local cuisine is exquisite. You will have the chance to sample traditional dishes such as raxó, lacón con grelos, trout, seafood, pulpo á feira, caldo gallego, empanada, as well as top-quality cheeses and wines. Additionally, we will have a tasting of local products, all sourced from the region, at a carefully selected venue.
After the meal and a well-deserved rest, you will have the afternoon free to explore what interests you the most or to stroll around the city at your own pace. If you wish, you can enjoy the city at night, where the cathedral offers an impressive view.
- Day 3. Breakfast, end of services
This is the final day of our getaway.
We will wake up after enjoying the comforts of the hotel and have a leisurely breakfast. We will then proceed with Check-Out, and before heading home, if time permits, you may take advantage of the morning to continue exploring the surroundings. We recommend bidding farewell to Lugo with a visit to the Castro de Viladonga or enjoying a picnic at Peña de Rodas, both just a few minutes from the city.
With this final activity, we will conclude our getaway.

How to Formalise Your Booking
For better management by our travel agency, we recommend making your booking at least 15 days in advance. However, if the booking is made within a shorter period, we will still process it, although booking in advance is always advisable.
To formalise your booking, a payment of €30 per person is required as a deposit and management fee.
Once the booking is formalised, our team will contact you as soon as possible to confirm all the details.
After formalising your booking, we will send you all the related information for your review and confirmation.
When all services are confirmed, and 15 days before the start of the trip, the client must pay the remaining balance of the booking, which corresponds to the total price of the trip minus the deposit already paid.
If the booking is formalised less than 15 days in advance of the trip start date, the client must pay the full amount of the trip at the time of booking.
Free cancellation up to 7 days before
If you wish to cancel your booking, no cancellation fees will apply as long as you do so 7 days before the trip start date. In this case, any amounts already paid will be fully refunded.
