Discover Vigo: A City with a Unique Personality

Vigo is a city with a unique personality, blending its maritime, industrial, traditional, and cosmopolitan character. Famous for its stunning Christmas lights, it also boasts numerous points of interest that invite you to explore.

Thanks to its microclimate, Vigo enjoys mild temperatures year-round and an impressive number of clear days, despite being located in northern Spain. This feature makes it a unique exception within Galicia.

Even in January, the city is worth visiting to admire the blooming camellias, which add vibrant colours to the streets, giving a special touch to winter. For all these reasons, Vigo is an ideal destination to enjoy at any time of the year, not just during the warmer months.

Itinerary
  • Day 1. Arrival at the accommodation in Vigo

Upon arrival at the selected establishment in Vigo, we will proceed with Check-In and prepare to discover Galician culture and gastronomy.

This first day will be dedicated to rest and acclimatisation. Depending on your arrival time, this day will be taken as free time to settle in, take a leisurely walk through the city, and relax at the hotel, ensuring you are rested and energised for the activity-filled day ahead.

  • Day 2. Guided tour in Vigo and gastronomic dinner

After a delicious breakfast at our accommodation, we will dedicate the day to exploring the most populated city in Galicia on a guided tour.

One of the main attractions of Vigo is its fishing districts, particularly the Casco Vello de Bouzas, with its small harbour, lighthouse, urban beach, and beautiful promenade. From there, passing by the iconic Statue of the Siren, we can reach the old town, where you can wander its cobbled streets and discover the true essence of the city. Just a few steps away is the famous Street of Oysters, where you can taste the renowned Oysters of the Vigo Estuary.

After our tour, we will enjoy a tasting menu, essential for savouring the essence of the region. The gastronomy of Vigo is a delightful fusion of seafood and local produce. Its fish market, the largest in Spain, provides the ingredients for dishes like fried baby fish (*peixiños fritos*) or Galician monkfish. Meat dishes are also popular, such as grilled churrasco or braised beef stew.

Guests will participate in a tasting of local products at a renowned restaurant offering a modern take on traditional cuisine. This establishment prioritises knowledge of the ingredients, ensuring freshness and local sourcing with an innovative touch. The dishes will be paired with excellent wine, curated by a sommelier who has won the prestigious Golden Nose Award.

A true treat for the palate in the heart of Vigo.

  • Day 3. Breakfast, end of services

This is the final day of our getaway.

We will wake up after enjoying the comforts of the hotel and have a leisurely breakfast. We will then proceed with Check-Out, and depending on the time available, we can use the morning to explore the surroundings. We recommend bidding farewell to the city by driving across the Rande Bridge, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Cíes Islands and the impressive Vigo Estuary.

With this final activity, we will conclude our getaway.

We wish you a pleasant return journey and hope you have enjoyed these days in Galicia.

Have a safe trip home!
