Gastronomy and Culture: A Private Getaway to Santiago and Ribeira Sacra
Discover the best of Santiago de Compostela and the Ribeira Sacra in a private getaway designed for small groups (2 to 8 people), with transfers and an exclusive chauffeur throughout the experience.
Over 4 days, you will explore the cultural richness of Santiago de Compostela, including its impressive architecture and monuments. You will enjoy a gastronomic tasting in the city, where you can savour the finest local products.
In the Ribeira Sacra, you will experience an unforgettable adventure sailing on a catamaran through the stunning Sil River Canyon. You will also visit a D.O. Ribeira Sacra winery, where you will taste the wines of this unique region, renowned for its heroic viticulture.
The trip also includes a gastronomic experience that will allow you to enjoy the most authentic flavours of the Ribeira Sacra, rounding out a getaway designed to combine culture, relaxation, and the finest Galician gastronomy.
- Day 1. Arrival in Santiago de Compostela
A chauffeur will pick you up at Lavacolla Airport or the Renfe train station and transfer you to the hotel. After Check-In and some rest, your gastronomic and cultural experience in Santiago de Compostela will begin.
This first day is free to settle in, unpack, and enjoy a leisurely stroll around the city, discovering its streets and main points of interest. After this relaxing and exploratory afternoon, you can unwind at the hotel to prepare for the next day’s more dynamic activities.
- Day 2. Excursion to the Ribeira Sacra
Breakfast at the hotel. The second day of the gastronomic experience begins with a visit to the Ribeira Sacra, a region shaped by the Sil and Miño rivers, which carve an impressive landscape through the mountains. This area boasts the largest concentration of Romanesque religious buildings in Europe.
A chauffeur will pick you up at the hotel and take you to this beautiful region, located between the provinces of Lugo and Ourense. Throughout the day, you will explore the key features of the area through its most emblematic monuments. This region is the most significant hub of rural Romanesque architecture in Europe, partly due to the 18 monasteries it houses.
Highlights include the Monastery of San Pedro de Rocas, renowned for being home to Galicia’s first monks and carved directly into the rock, and the Monastery of Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil, celebrated for its beauty and excellent preservation, making for a truly unique visit.
We will stop at several Sil River viewpoints to admire the region’s beauty, surrounded by centuries-old vineyards, hidden monasteries, and some breathtaking waterfalls.
Next, we will visit a D.O. Ribeira Sacra winery, where you will learn about the winemaking process and taste some of the finest local products.
After the winery visit, we will head to a traditional restaurant in the area to enjoy a typical Galician meal.
In the afternoon, we will take a catamaran ride through the canyons of the Sil River, marvelling at impressive drops of up to 500 metres and the vineyards that line the steep canyon walls.
At the end of this full day, we will return to Santiago de Compostela.
- Day 3. Guided tour with gastronomic tasting in Santiago de Compostela
Breakfast at the hotel. The third day begins with a guided tour of Santiago de Compostela. Our guide will meet you to begin the tour.
We will visit the city’s most iconic sites, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, such as the imposing Cathedral, entering through the Pórtico de la Gloria, the Platerías Square, Obradoiro Square, and the Parador Reyes Católicos.
Next, we will visit the Santiago de Compostela Market, which has been operating for over three centuries and is a benchmark for the sale of fresh products. Here, we will taste a selection of typical Galician products, including cheeses and wines.
You will have the afternoon free to continue exploring Santiago de Compostela or enjoy an additional activity based on your preferences.
At the end of the day, we will return to the assigned accommodation to conclude this wonderful experience.
- Day 4. Breakfast, end of services, and transfer to the airport or train station
Breakfast at the hotel. At the agreed time, a chauffeur will pick you up at the accommodation and transfer you to the airport or train station for your return journey.
We wish you an excellent trip and hope you have enjoyed these wonderful days in Galicia.
