Gastronomic Getaway in Santiago de Compostela

Discover the monumental city of Santiago de Compostela, where culture and gastronomy come together in an unforgettable experience.

The most important temple in Galicia, and undoubtedly one of the most significant in Spain and Europe, is considered one of the cradles of European pilgrimage.

Legend has it that a hermit named Pelayo saw a strange light in the sky. This phenomenon, confirmed by Bishop Teodomiro of Iria before King Alfonso II of Asturias, prompted the construction of a small chapel. Later, during the reign of Alfonso III, this chapel was replaced by a church, which was burned down during an attack by Arab troops led by Almanzor.

At the beginning of the second millennium, in 1075, the construction of the current Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela began, one of the most representative places of worship in global Christianity.

The gastronomic offerings in Santiago de Compostela stand out for their richness and variety, reflecting the diverse Galician cuisine. During this experience, guests will enjoy a tasting of Galician products in a carefully selected venue, where details about the sampled products will be explained.

Itinerary
  • Day 1: Arrival in Ribadavia

We have chosen the surroundings and nearby areas of this charming town, situated on the banks of the Avia River, a tributary of the Miño River, which was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1957. Ribadavia boasts one of the most important historic quarters in Galicia.

Upon arrival at our Pazo/Country House, you will enjoy a few days of tranquillity, thermal baths, and exquisite Galician cuisine.

Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy a walk around Ribadavia, exploring its maze of medieval streets and arcaded squares. You can also take in the views from the lookouts over the Avia River, as well as visit the temples and pazos (manor houses) from various periods and styles (ranging from the 9th to the 19th centuries). Additionally, you will savour the excellent local cuisine.

  • Day 2: Prexigueiro Thermal Baths and Winery Visit in Ribeiro

After a delicious breakfast at our hotel, we will head in the morning to the Prexigueiro Thermal Baths, located in the village of the same name, just 5 km from Ribadavia. This thermal complex is set in a natural environment surrounded by forests.

The thermal baths offer an outdoor circuit that includes 5 hot pools, 2 cold pools, and a SPA. You can also enjoy a variety of treatments such as hydromassage baths, vinotherapy, chocolatherapy, and algae treatments.

After this relaxing experience, you will have free time to explore the surroundings and enjoy the delicious Galician cuisine.

In the afternoon, we will visit a winery in the Ribeiro Designation of Origin, where a wine tasting will take place.

We will end this special day at our charming Galician accommodation.

  • Day 3: Outariz Thermal Baths and End of Our Thermal Getaway

After our second night in Galicia and another traditional Galician breakfast, our journey is not yet over.

We will check out of the accommodation, but before leaving, we will spend the morning visiting the Outariz Thermal Baths, located on the banks of the Miño River.

We suggest visiting this thermal station, a building constructed in the Japanese spa tradition, featuring wooden facilities perfectly integrated into the environment. The thermal baths offer two types of circuits (Celtic and Zen), with 11 outdoor pools and 3 indoor pools. You can also enjoy various beauty treatments and massages.

Just a few minutes' walk from the thermal baths are public outdoor thermal areas by the Miño River: the Canedo Thermal Baths and Muiño da Veiga Thermal Baths.

Among these three thermal stations, you can relax in spacious outdoor facilities surrounded by thermal waters and the natural beauty of the Miño riverside.

After this final wellness experience, we will conclude our getaway.

We wish you a safe journey home and hope you enjoyed these days in Galicia.

Have a pleasant trip back home!
